Sometimes, I just cannot resist picking up a hammer, some nails, a piece of wood, and some thread. This was one of the biggest projects that I’ve taken on and I needed to finish it in a week! Thread art is something I really love but the time commitment, intricate detail, and many of the other aspects are sometimes quite a lot to deal with.
For this project, I did draw a faint outline on the wood after staining it to give myself some easier work. I then just started to hammer in nails, I would always put a nail at a critical point (such as a turn or edge) and the would place them about an inch and a half from each other. It was not a precise science.
Then came the hard part. I was working from an image while doing this which made it a lot easier. The colors would weave and overlap which made the order in which they were added extremely important. I would start by knotting the thread around one nail and then wrapping them around the others to create the lines that I wanted.
And after days of work, the results couldn’t have been better.
I will do a step by step walk through on the next one that I do.
I just like the valuable information you provide on your articles. I’ll bookmark your blog and test again here regularly. I’m slightly certain I’ll learn lots of new stuff right here! Best of luck for the next!
