A Bullet Journal is a great way to organize your life, keep notes on what you need to do, and organize your hopes /dreams while being creative!
With the summer ending, we are now heading into fall. I feel like there are many stores that can’t decide if it’s “back to school” season or “Halloween” season. Quite a few of them are pulling the “why not both?” option which is fairly amusing to see side by side. I find myself ready for the change.
The heat has been draining, and I am ready for the weather to get cooler. But hopefully it’s not too cool. Sweater season is my favorite time of year, but I always worry that we will get into coat season too soon. The weather is not predictable either, which makes it difficult to temper expectations.
I think that’s what makes September such a good month. The temperature is cooling off, but the weather is still nice enough to go outside. So long as it’s not raining… we are getting some torrential downpours in the area lately.

August
I asked for some design inspiration for September, and I realized I really wish BlueSky had a poll option. But, with the in-person responses that I got, I decided to make a dream catcher inspirate design spread. I am not the most superstitious person, but I do love the dream catcher aesthetic. It’s a mixture of complex and simple all at the same time. Although I did lean more into the simple sides of things.
The ring itself ended up being a simple pattern. Very similar to the other drawn dreamcatchers I’ve seen. I decided that I wanted to keep the strings in one color since I thought it would be more impactful. Then I moved onto the different tassels and such for decoration.
I decided to start with a few feathers since I feel like I normally associate feathers with dream catchers. I also wanted to add some beads as well since I felt it was a good way to fill up the space while keeping the negative space.
The last step was coloring in the spread. I went relatively simple on this one just due to time. By having only one color per section, I do feel like the result was a little more flat than I originally wanted. But it’s still cute.
August Habits and Calendar
I really like the results of last month’s habit tracker and calendar, so I did it again! I feel like the habit trackers came out especially well. The calendar works well too but I did find myself a little less associated with the day of the week with their dates. It does take a bit of grounding out. I did keep the design for this month, but I am having some thoughts on what I might want to change for the next one.
Last Month’s Habits
While I was very happy with how the habit tracker turned out, I wasn’t exactly on top of my habits. From a mixture of travel, sick cat, and being overwhelmed by life. It just became hard to do anything. I felt like I couldn’t get significant momentum in any area. But it was nice to have a reminder that I was still moving.
Revamping Old Pages
As my journal grows, there are some pages that become obsolete or obviously just very off… One of these pages was my “big” goals. I had set several big goals for myself, and they either changed or became more reminders of failure than success. All I know is that I wanted a restart. Which meant those pages were going to haunt me…
I decided the best solution was using paper to create art over the original page! This is a great way to use up paper scraps while also covering up some sins. There are ways to make it look like it was on purpose, drawing between the scrap paper and the page does give a more consistent look. Or you can be like me and make it an obvious cover up but be okay with that.
