2026 June Bullet Journal: The Hierophant, the Hermit, and temperence

While I am not normally the most on top of my life, I do like to think that I am able to make the deadlines I set for myself. That has not been true this year… like at all…. It’s been a bit frustrating when I have plans and they don’t come to fruition. I can’t get across the finish line but there are some cases where I am not able to even able to get past the starting line.

I think I’ve come to realize how important motivation is. Especially when it comes to projects that have no negative impact if left unfinished. I think that’s another asset a bullet journal can bring. Either you can leave notes for yourself or, if you’re not feeling your own handwriting, there are plenty of motivation stickers available on the market.

And a new month is a new opportunity to lie to myself that this month will be different, and I’ll be more on top of things. But I also think I’m lying to myself so either I’m right or pleasantly surprised. Still waiting for that pleasantly surprised moment. Thanks for letting me get that out of my system.

In continuing with my tarot theme, this is one of the lucky months that got three cards combined into the cover pages. This month the chosen cards are The Hierophant (5), The Hermit (9), and Temperance (14). What did I think connected these cards? Um…. I dunno. I don’t know what I was thinking when past me planned this month and now me cannot find a common throughline. But I am enjoying the combination, so I am just going to keep pushing.

Once again, I am taking my inspiration from the Persona 3 tarot deck. To start, I made a very rough outline of the calendar to see what space I had left to work with. Since there was more space on the left page, I decided that having two cards sharing that space made the most sense.

In the top left corner, I sketched out the lantern that is a common symbol of the Hermit, and the bottom left corner has the staff of the Hierophant. Temperence was a more interesting card because it contained some interesting symbolizations and different ways to capture that. The persona 3 card gave 4 distinct symbols while other deck has an angel holding the water chalice and the last two symbols were hidden somewhere within the card.

I ended up putting the four symbols in the top right of the spread and the month title in the bottom right. With everything in place, I did not that there were a few dead spaces on the page that would be better with something filling them. Then I noticed the keys on the Hierophant’s card. I will use any excuse I can to put keys on the page.

Habit Tracking

Since the month takes up effectively 5 rows (missing one day on the top and four on the bottom row), I was able to put five calendars in each column. I only needed 2 columns to get a calendar for all ten habits that I like to track. Although a part of me did want to stop and examine my habits, especially since some just haven’t been done in the last few months.

Some of the habits don’t get accomplished because of a lack of motivation while others don’t get accomplished simply because I don’t have the time. I wanted to reevaluate my time and schedule and see what I can reasonably expect from myself.

It did make me realize how much time I “waste” per day. The internet is a very scary place. It can suck you in but getting out takes some willpower. I do not have Willpower. It’s why I started locking my phone and tracking how much time I can lock it per day (forest). It feels like a challenge and turning tasks into challenges or games does increase the likelihood of me accomplishing them.

What Else Can I Track?

I mainly use my bullet journal for tracking daily tasks and habits, there are many, many other uses. Honestly, I think that the limit really is a person’s imagination. And perhaps the 3rd dimension. Having a 3-way input on a 2-way axis is doable but it’s not the most efficient approach. But that’s neither here nor there. Anyway, here’s some other tools I use more sporadically in my bullet journal:

  1. Schedules

Some things I have seen very efficiently tracked are schedules. This is especially good for schedules that are changing. I know that I like to use during vacations to keep track of events and remind myself to schedule time for meals and downtime.

    2. Monthly Goals

    3. Patterns

Patterns that are nice to track in bullet journals because I can mark which lines have been completed. This is especially helpful for when it comes to putting down and picking projects back up.

      4. Bucket Lists

      5. Books / Movies

      6. Mind Maps

      7. Remembering Tips and Tricks
