2025 Bullet Journal: February

A Bullet Journal is a great way to keep your life in one place and have notes on what you need to do and your hopes /dreams all together while being creative!

There is snow on the ground and rumors of a heat wave coming, it’s time for winter and spring to duke it out for control. Spring always wins but it’s really a question to see how long winter holds on for. I guess that’s kind of what Groundhog Day is all about, although I do not believe a Groundhog can control the weather. Still a cute ritual though… I guess…

Anyway, the main holiday February is known for is Valentine’s Day which means pink and pink and more pink. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to draw for my February monthly spread but it always came back to pink. So, I just gave in and decided to make a heart-centric monthly spread.

While I know that Valentine’s Day is often a day to celebrate your significant other, I think it’s more a day about celebrating love in general. That could be romantic but also familial or platonic. And honestly, I think that Valentine’s Day should be a day you celebrate the love for yourself. Or at least try to.

Logically, I know I am the most important person in my life (wouldn’t exist otherwise), but I do not give myself enough grace. And if Valentine’s Day works as an excuse and permission then why not use it? Celebrate everyone in your life, including yourself!

February

For the February Bullet Journal Monthly Spread, I decided I wanted to keep it as similar in design style to January as possible. I felt like keeping the charts and letting them consistent would give a nice flow from one

I wanted the February title to be in the lower right corner. Estimating where to start was tricky. But I knew I wanted each letter to be 4 dots by 7 dots which made each letter easy enough to plot out. I also decided to start and the end of the word and go backward because it would be easier to adapt to a more open space than a closed one.

Then I had to decide, where did I want my calendar versus the habit chart? Last month, I placed the calendar under the title on the left and the habit tracker on the right. This made sense for creating space under the calendar. I originally was going to keep the calendar away from the top of the title, but the flow just led me there.

The habit tracker ended up on the left while the calendar moved to the right. Since these are both effectively line grids, I wanted to align the tops of the two to have a more cohesive look. But when I was drawing, my mind seemed to have slipped up a bit… They ended up one line apart instead.

The final touches were a lot of pink. Hearts, streamers, all that jazz. I wanted to have a cute look without getting too heavy-handed or coloring in too much. I am learning how important the negative space can be in a drawing. It’s just as powerful as a black outline.

How did last months HABIT TRACKER go?

Alright! I was very curious to see how this new habit tracker would turn out and I love it! Filling in the grid with dots has a colorful feeling that is oddly motivating without being intimidating. I have two empty rows, and they have never once bothered me. They have reminded me I should try to do those habits, but my mindset was more encouraging rather than blaming. Something about this new layout just feels nice.

I think what I’m most excited about is the chart where I wanted to track mood, weather, the forest app, and water. Because it is in an obvious spot, I rarely forget to fill in these categories which is nice because I know I have struggled with that when they are on standalone pages. Too much flipping.

One thing I wish I did was base weather off of temperature (1 = 10 degrees, 2 = 20, and so on) instead of the type of weather. It changed so much during the day that assigning the day as one type felt a bit confusing. I could also easily see doing both. But either way, I am very into this type of graph. It’s a tool that can only really be used when there is a scale and not a yes / no toggle option.

RANDOM PAGE HIGHLIGHT: Personal Bill of Rights

I know that I did a highlight on the personal bill of rights last year, but that won’t stop me from doing it again this year. That’s one of the best things about starting a new journal is recreating some of the pages. Sure, it is the same information, but it is important information. And it’s good to have a reminder about it occasionally, recreating the page does exactly that. It’s a new year and I hope people remember to be kind to themselves. ❤️
