2025 Bullet Journal: July

A Bullet Journal is a great way to organize your life, keep notes on what you need to do, and organize your hopes /dreams while being creative!

Another month went by in a flash. Between traveling for work and getting ready for the holidays, I feel like I have lost a lot of time, but I’m not even sure where. But I was excited to renew my sense of time with this July bullet spread.

Summer is in full swing! And there have been quite a few celebrations in the neighborhood. I have been hearing fireworks for a while. It’s honestly amazing to me how much people can celebrate outside, especially since this summer feels particularly hot. But hey! Why let anything like the weather get in the way of a good time?

July

With the idea of fireworks stuck in my head, I decided to go with this classic July spread theme. Given the nature of fireworks, I wanted to start at the bottom at leave as much room up top as possible. I wanted to start with the bigger shapes of the habit tracker and calendar. The bottom line of both was aligned with the lower section of the page.

That gave me the proper spacing for the title for the month, which ended up being just above the center of the page. This left a decent amount of space at the top of the page. I debated for some time about how I wanted to approach the fireworks since I felt like there were multiple ways to draw them.

In the end, I pulled out my dotting markers and made my fireworks from a collection of dots. Each fireworks display contains three colors to have a bit more layering and depth. I added the “shoot line” to some of the fireworks, but I didn’t want to do it with all of them, as I feared it would transform the fireworks into flowers.

I sort of overcrowded the page, but I love the amount of colors that the fireworks allowed me to play with. In my mind, there are no colors that can’t be made with fireworks, so I saw no reason to limit myself.

July Habits and Calendar

I continued with my giant box for the habit tracker with 11 outlines of habits and a 1-10 scale for tracking amounts. I did realize, while writing this section, that I forgot to leave space for a color key… Welp, I haven’t changed the colors I’ve used for the past several months, so I will just hold the line and stay consistent with what I’ve done in the past.

The calendar also had its quirks. But first, the positives. I decided to put the day of the week in black bubbles surrounded by color. In my mind, the dots helped correlate the calendar to the fireworks.

I also put down some of the earlier events / travel on the calendar before putting down the fireworks. Then I realized that I accidentally filled my “event space” with fireworks, so I shifted and put some events to the side of the calendar. It was either that or no more events, and I don’t always have control over when things happen.

Last Month’s Habits

I have started to question whether or not I should cut down on my logged habits. Especially since I have been struggling to do them more lately. But then again, having the physical reminder is good for me in two ways. It reminds me of what I want to work on during the month and highlights areas of improvement for myself. And as long as I keep that attitude, I think keeping the desired habits up is still a good thing.

Reminder Page: Dividers

Sometimes, the pages in my bullet journal are there as a design reminder of something I don’t want to forget. One that I did earlier in the year was a page for dividers. I know there have been several moments where I wanted to put some sort of divider on the page and couldn’t remember anything to do except a straight line. Having this page as a reminder is just nice, so I can reference when I want something, but not have to keep the thought somewhere in my overcrowded head.
