Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat the butter until softened. Add the granulated sugar and the brown sugar and whip until light and fluffy. Approximately 3-5 minutes.
Beat in egg and vanilla extract until the butter mixture is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
Add flour mixture parts at a time until everything is mixed together evenly.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Roll cookie dough into 1 inch to 1-1/2inch balls and place on cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9-12 minutes or until light brown along the edges. Allow to cool on sheet for two minutes before removing to a cooling rack.
