A Bullet Journal is the perfect way to sort my thoughts and goals with a bit of creative flair!
This year, I am taking inspiration from the Tarot Deck.
And there goes the summer. August was a little less eventful for me than some of the previous months. There were no major (non-work) events; there was no reason to travel, the time was calm, and the break was much needed. Pokopia did take up a large amount of my time as the new expansion was released in that first week. I did lose quite a large amount of time to that game. Honestly, I still am.

The weather was… interesting. It was decently hot for the month, but there were multiple thunderstorms where a severe weather warning was issued. And the rain was quite heavy. Powerful enough to down trees and turn off power. But with the rain came humidity. I will say that hot and muggy days are not my thing.
I am looking forward to the weather taking a turn. Sweater weather is the best weather. Also, it’s an interesting balance between the heat and the AC. And I’m not sad about losing the AC one bit. September starts with a bit of a bang for me with some family festivities, but then it calms down, and I’m curious how quickly the horror games and movies will come out.

The Base Design
The Tarot cards for this month are Strength and Fortune. I will admit to leaning more into fortune than I did strength. The wheel, which is a classic symbol of fortune, was an automatic pull for me. I wanted it to be the focal point. To accomplish this, I decided to put the calendar in the top left corner to give the page more space for the wheel. There still should be an edge around for the other designs, which causes the sketch to span across both pages.

The bottom left corner of the page seemed like the perfect place to put the September title. I am not sure what font I am using at this point, but it feels like an interesting one. Not every letter follows the same rules, which adds to the look. I’m not sure how I feel about the final look, but I will continue on.
With the calendar and title in place, it was time to add the wheel. I started with a giant circle that was centered just to the right of the page crease. This creates the core of the image. From here, I added an inner circle, spokes, and a defined border.

The fortune tarot includes two creatures, and the strength tarot includes one. I decided to use all three to line up around the edge of the wheel. The two-wheel creatures were easy to outline, but the strength creature? Not so much. Strength is represented by a lion and a woman. I basically ignored the woman and focused on the lion. Trying to draw an outline of a lion proved to be a struggle. There were many iterations, and none that I was happy with. I definitely reached the “good enough” stage when I decided to move on.
Adding a Background
I decided that the best approach for filling in the design was to color everything black. I liked it being an outline, and I wanted to keep it that way. Having it as an outline and filling it with a different color just didn’t sit right with me. But after I filled in everything, I felt that the page was missing something. The space felt a little too… plain?

So I decided to really take inspiration from the Persona 3 cards and decided to add a background that was a diamond pattern. Although I thought it would be more fun to make it argyle than just diamonds. I love the way it turned out even though it could have been a bit more precise. But all in all, this is my favorite monthly spread yet.
Habit Tracker Spread
When it came to creating my habit page, I was torn between having the layout be comfortable or being condensed and on one page. There was also a middle ground between those two as well. Having four calendars in a column keeps the page spread out, but 5 are needed to keep the habit calendars in two columns.
So I decided to finally pull the trigger on something I have been considering for a while. I reduced the number of habits. Removed the two that have been a blank calendar for the last few months. At this moment, I can tell that I am not going to push myself for those habits, so having a reminder of that isn’t helping me.

Reducing to 8 habits allows me to have the comfortable layout of four per column while having a section for my one line a day highlights. There was also a small section at the bottom of the page which allowed me to have a box for my monthly goals and chart key. Still not sure what those goals are, but I will. Sooner or later.
