The Herringbone Knit Stitch (HK)

  1. Slip right needing into the back of two stitches on the left needle
  2. Wrap yarn around as if preparing to knit the stitches
  3. Pull newly made stitch through onto the right needle
  4. Slip one of the two stitches on the left needle off

The Herringbone Purl Stitch (HP)

  1. Slip right needing into the front of two stitches on the left needle
  2. Wrap yarn around as if preparing to purl the stitches
  3. Pull newly made stitch through onto the right needle
  4. Slip one of the two stitches on the left needle off

For the scarf, there are only two types of rows that are needed!

  1. HK until the last stitch, k1 (RS)
  2. PK until the last stitch, p1 (WS)
  3. Repeat rows one and two until desired length is reached (I like to make mine about 60 inches)

I like to finish scarf by doing edging on the side and adding tassels! But that for a different post! 😉
