2024 March Bullet Journal

A Bullet Journal is a great way to keep your life in one place and have notes on what you need to do while being creative!

February was a bit more of a mess than I had been prepared for but I do think I was kept a little more sane thanks to my 2024 journal. So, that’s a plus. And I am enjoying journaling and covering almost every page with stickers. Having six hundred stickers of cute animals does make it a bit more fun.

I have been getting more into watching other people draw on Pintrest and I wanted to try out a few techniques that I’ve seen for March. There seems to be a lot of coloring techniques that mix markers and pencils. This is used to get more interesting and detailed images instead of flat images that might come from just using markers.

March

This month, I decided I wanted to have gems all over the place. Why? Cause I like them! I don’t need any reason more than that. A bullet journal should be about enjoying yourself first and foremost. Yes, it is an organizational tool but it should be fun! And… Yes, I did add some stars because I cannot help myself.

Just like last month, I started by outlining the design that I had drawn. For this spread, I decided to do a border around the edge containing the sun, the moon, and the stars. I like the idea of the border but the execution could have been a little better when I was tracing the outline.

Then I started to color. I wanted to use a purple marker as the base. The first purple that I used a little too dark so I switched to a lighter color. The one dark purple gem does stand out… Just goes to show, check your colors before committing them to your design!

After the maker layer was down, I added the pencil layer to give the image for depth. I used a lighter purple and a darker purple to add some shading and give a light source to the image. I also used a little bit of white to add highlights which I hope translated to looking like a shine.

The border still proved to be an issue. I tried to make up for the drawing flaws when coloring but it didn’t not turn out as elegantly as I would have wanted. I still like it but it was not the image that I had in my head.

March Habits and Calendar

I did carry over the design from my March cover page over to the calendar and habit tracker. I really love the way it turned out! I also decided to do something a little different. Instead of using color pens, I decided to switch to highlighters to color in this month’s habit tracker. I felt like it would be easier to color with highlighters rather than pens.

Last Month’s Habits

Like I said before, last month was a little bit of a mess. Especially in the middle of the month where I feel like I was on an island and not doing any of my habits. Can I blame something other than myself? I can but I probably shouldn’t. It’s up to me to prioritize my time and make sure I attempt to do my habits when I can. But new video games are so difficult to pry myself away from!

Using Different Pens

One thing I really enjoy about bullet journals is the ability to express myself in whatever medium I want. I use a lot of different markers and pens because it’s fun to use a lot of color. But you can also use pencil or erasable pens if you don’t want to commit to anything permanent.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! There is no such thing as perfection so even if there are a couple of scribbles in places, what does it matter?
